Many years ago we were strolling around at a festival in North Carolina and I saw a demonstrator making a braided rug from wool.  I was enthralled immediately and knew that one day I would make braided rugs.  Many years later that day finally arrived.  Not only did I learn how to braid rugs, but I also learned how to hook rugs with yarn and/or wool strips.  I started with repairing my grandmother's rug that she hooked in the 1960's.  No pun intended, but I was hooked.  I wanted to use rug yarn but soon found out that the yarn she used is not made anymore, but you can find it on vintage websites.  Wool for braided rugs is also hard to find since most of the woolen mills shut down.  So....I am always on the hunt for rug yarn and wool.  Enjoy browsing!!

This is my grandmother's rug she made in 1960. My pride and joy!!
